Today we went to Summer Winds to look for our plants. We ended up buying Lavender, Marigolds and Rosemary plants, planters and soil. Tomorrow we are going to place the plants in our planters and place them in the garden.

Plants, Plants, and More Plants!

We chose to use:

Lavender:  Bees love lavender plants when they are in bloom because they are potent in both pollen and sweet nectar.

Mint: Honeybees love herbs and mint over many other types of flowers or plants.

Rosemary: Since it is a culinary herb with a strong smell, bees are highly attracted to Rosemary.

Marigolds: Marigolds have a bright color that attract bees from all around.

Why Are We Doing This Project?

We recently saw a project done by one of our classmates on how bees work and the importance of them in our ecosystem, and decided to bring them to Willow Glen.  Since we have such a great garden on our campus, we thought it wold be good to add to it by adding a place for bees to come.  We will be using plants that attract bees and supply them with pollen.  We hope to add our garden to the Willow Glen garden by the end of May 2017.
